Asparagus Baked with Cheese
I know, asparagus is wonderful just the way it is. BUT, please When I say that asparagus cooked with cheese may be one of the most delectable dishes on the planet, I mean it. I promised you four ingredients, and aside from olive oil and spice, I’m sticking to my word. What you’ll need is the following:
Ingredients for Cheesy Asparagus
Asparagus should be fairly thick.
Garlic – Asparagus and garlic baked together are a marriage made in heaven!
Mozzarella – For that delicious cheese pull.
For that golden crunch, use parmesan cheese.
The mild flavor of mozzarella is ideal for this dish since it doesn’t overshadow the asparagus. I wouldn’t use cheddar in this recipe since it overpowers it. Gruyere instead of parmesan is the only alteration I’d make.
It doesn’t get any easier than this when it comes to baking asparagus. All you have to do to prepare the asparagus is remove the woody ends. You don’t have to peel or trim any of the asparagus.
I just line up the woody ends of the asparagus and slice them up to an inch thick (depending on size). I know the traditional method is to bend and snap the asparagus, but I believe you lose too much of the asparagus this way. Nobody will be harmed by a modest amount of white.
What’s The Best Way To Prepare Cheesy Asparagus?
Remove the asparagus’s ends. Toss the asparagus with the olive oil, salt and pepper, and garlic powder on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Arrange in a single layer, then top with shredded mozzarella and parmesan.
Roast for 12-15 minutes (I did mine for 13 minutes), or until the asparagus is cooked through and the cheese has melted.
I used THIN asparagus spears, so I’d stick with these or alter the cooking time accordingly.
Preparing Asparagus For Roasting:
The woody dry ends of the asparagus should be snapped off. When preparing a huge bunch like this, it’s faster to break one end off first, then line them all up on your chopping board and slice through the remainder at the same length.
Drizzle a lovely olive oil/garlic mixture over the top.
To avoid overcooking the asparagus, roast them for only 10 minutes initially. Simply ensure that your oven is preheated!
Broil (or grill) the mozzarella cheese on top! You may use any cheese you have on hand for this, although a mild melting cheese is preferred.
Everything was completed in about 15 minutes!
Where Do I Start To Put It All Together?
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 C)
Arrange asparagus on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Whisk together olive oil, garlic, salt, black pepper, and cilantro in a small mixing basin. Pour the sauce over the asparagus and toss to evenly coat each spear.
Place a slice of cheese on top.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
Take advantage of this deliciousness right away!
What to serve with Cheesy Asparagus?
Sauce with Steak and Mushrooms
Spatchcock Chicken with Herbs Roasted
Sausages prepared from scratch
Pie in a Cottage
Tips for Roasting Asparagus:
Trim the bottom stems that are dry and woody.
Asparagus comes in a wide range of sizes. Cook the very thin ones quickly, while the extremely thick ones take a bit longer.
Take care not to overcook the asparagus. Keep an eye on them and puncture them to make sure they’re the texture you want.
For a brilliant blast of flavor, add a lemon on top!
cheesy garlic roasted asparagus- The ultimate no-fuss side dish is cheesy baked asparagus. With only 4 ingredients , you'll be able to serve this asparagus with almost anything! This simple cheesy asparagus dish elevates asparagus to new heights!
500 g asparagus Woody ends removed asparagus stalks
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt (kosher)
1 tsp. black pepper, freshly cracked
1 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Using nonstick cooking oil spray, lightly coat a baking sheet.
Arrange asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet. Remove from the equation.
Combine olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Toss the asparagus with the oil mixture to evenly coat it.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the vegetables are bright and soft.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top. Return to the oven and broil (or grill) the cheese until it melts and becomes brown (about 4-5 minutes).
If necessary, season with salt and pepper. Serve right away.
a) Trimmed Asparagus - The traditional method for determining how much asparagus to trim is to grasp each end and press until it snaps. However, I believe that this removes more than is required. Simply line up the asparagus and trim if it seems to be white or woody.
b) Asparagus Size - Look for medium-sized asparagus (not the super-thick, super-short asparagus or 'fine asparagus'). Either of these options is OK; simply adjust the baking time accordingly. I love my asparagus to have a bit of a bite to it, but if you want softer asparagus, bake it for a few minutes longer.
c) Garlic - This dish is enhanced by the addition of garlic. If you don't like garlic, decrease the amount to one clove.
d) Salt - I'd start with 1/4 teaspoon because parmesan cheese may be rather salty. If you think it requires more near the conclusion, make the necessary adjustments.
